STRIPPERS "ART OF THE TEASE"
STRIPPERS "ART OF THE TEASE"
9x12 SOFT COVER BOOK, 134 pages
The book Strippers “The Art of the Tease” covers the history of the striptease from ancient fertility dancing to the strippers of the Golden Age of Burlesque in the 20’s and 30’s to present day Pole Dancing and Lap Dancing’s strip club entertainment.
As history unfolds, it becomes apparent that there is a correlation between the striptease dance and the empowerment of women in their fight for equal rights. There are a lot of stories of strong, independent women that go beyond the mores of society. During the 20’s and 30’s there weren’t many high paying jobs for women and stripping was a means to an end.
As strip club entertainment becomes a profession we see performers developing acts that give them STAR STATUS like GYPSY ROSE LEE, ANN CORIO, and SALLY RAND. These dynamic women set the standard for stripping to become an ART FORM.
This book came into existence due to my affiliation with Burlesque shows over the years. I was the DJ, Lighting Tech and host for well-known venues in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I put the spotlight on some very beautiful, talented Strippers who made a name for themselves. I find it unfortunate that the striptease has such a stigma considered a low form of entertainment. I hope my book can shed some light on a misunderstood occupation.
Sincerely, Vena Isabella
