PERCEPTIONS BY SABRINA ABBOTT
Saturday February 11, 2023 - Saturday March 11, 2023
In her latest exhibition, PERCEPTIONS, Sabrina uses the Old Masters’ Technique to impart importance and prestige to each item portrayed. Sabrina states that, “Discarded remnants of our consumerist culture reflect the seemingly small decisions, or groups of people, that build, like the layers of glaze, to an impactful statement. The cropped portrayal, which implies the limitless or unknown bounds of the subject, coupled with the suggestive titles and subliminal imagery, leads the viewer to ponder the hidden stories and impact of these ignored fragments and introspect about their own relationships with the environment, consumerist culture, one another, and themselves. Vibrant colors reinforce the strength and power of the overlooked.”

Saturday, July 23, 2022 | Tuesday, September 13, 2022
I am summoned by a force other than me to be in the presence of the NOW. There is an energy that guided me , I don’t hear it , it’s just in my hands . It shows me without my say , it truly is a summons to create something that I don't plan, that I don't think about, I am summoned to be in the now and let the painting come through me. I've been summoned to do this work and to live and be this work. It calls me too nestle into silliness, know there is no fear, to let go and allow the work to unfold with no resistance and know there is no such thing as a mistake. ~ Hope Zarro / July 2022
Soul dancer-Hope Zarro. Even if you have only seen one of artist Hope Zarro's works, you will be attracted by her free-flowing, majestic images. In her two-dimensional spaces, this artist seems possessed of some mysterious, supernatural power; without any hesitation, she has a plan in mind and completes it in one go. The pictures are relaxed and relaxing, leaving a dance of freedom, with infinite charm. The brushstrokes are clean and intentional, not sloppy or random. The colors are elegant and noble; the style is cool and fresh. Zarro's work takes viewers from two-dimensions to multi-dimensional space-time, soaring endlessly.
Looking at Hope Zarro's work, it is naturally reminiscent of the works of abstract expressionist masters such as Clyfford Still and Jasper Johns. The strength seems to explode, but it is still elegant and self-contained, unadorned, and delicate in the rough. Gender seems to disappear here, the artist seems to have traveled through the past and the present, and the artistic expression and imagination of these predecessors are flowing in the blood of her soul.
In today's diverse expression of art, any technique, material or language seems to be unable confidently to claim originality. At the same time, we seem to have lost our ability to expect and interpret works of art. However, Hope Zarro's abstract expressionist work brings us a new reason, a powerful response to the "death of painting." ~ Liu Qiming / July 2022 / New York Research of Contemporary Arts
Hope Zarro is a very talented natural artist. The moment the brush touches her canvas, the audience is brought into a symphony with rhythm of beauty. It’s like a powerful force shocks and rescues your soul. The paintings evoke strong urges, making viewers want to stop, look, and to collect Zarro’s paintings.
~ Maya Ito / July 2022 / ACCA GALLERY
Hope is on her way to become one of the most important Contemporary American Artists. Her paintings are improvised to embrace the moment, she has a lot to say and she’s saying in a big way with her large canvasses.

This exhibition is an exploration of the philosophical symbols of a 6th Century Chinese philosopher, LAO TZU, through my experience with traditional Chinese culture. A culture richly embedded in the creation of contemporary ink painting. A most important concept of Lao Tzu is one that he identified as, “The Unity of Opposites”.
“REFLECTION” is a visual investigation of the inner and outer sides of people, revealing the“Unity of Opposites”. My ink paintings depict not only each person’s outward appearance, but their inward thoughts – a REFLECTION of their “real” self. With the evolution of our online social world, I have watched people develop more and more obvious multiple personalities. This phenomenon provided the fuel and inspiration for “REFLECTION”. ~ Lee Kuan Lian /June 2022
PETER FRANK / INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC, CURATOR AND POET
East and West met a long time ago. How does the coexistence of Eastern and Western visual traditions continue to evolve? In the art of Lee Kuan Lien, the graphic languages of Asian and Caucasian are not simply brought together, but interwoven, to the point where a hybrid of traditions – as well as of traditional and contemporary expression – emerges from a single hand. Lee has mastered techniques associated with West and East and found common ground between them. She can create seamless blends of these disparate practices and, often in the very same works, contrast them dramatically. The faces and figures she renders seemingly jump off modern billboards and onto ancient scrolls; the inner turmoil of her human subjects radiates outward and troubles the placid ponds that reflect them. Lee directs the poetry of Asian pictorialism in the theater of Euro-American visual space. Her images suspend between time and place, scene and enactment. The “reflection” Lee seeks is not simply the presence of a figure in water, but a thought in a gesture. It is also the mirroring and merging of artistic traditions from opposite sides of the globe in and into one another. There is a further dimension to Lee’s reflection, an entirely non-objective one brought to life with Xuan paper and pure light – a very modern use for a very old material. But here, it is the drama of the human condition Lee displays, a drama that well predates East and West. ~ Peter Frank / Los Angeles / International Art Critic, Curator and Poet
JULIENNE JOHNSON / CURATOR STATEMENT
LEE KUAN LIAN brush paints her way into the very soul of her subjects. We recognize their expressions of thought because we have seen them staring back at us from our own mirrors. Her monotone palette pays homage to centuries past, satisfying her heartfelt loyalty to ancient tradition. We know where she’s going – but then we don’t. she switches gear, throws in an edgy twist – and we find that East meets West.

PRESENTED BY ACCA GALLERY, BEVERLY HILLS
October 11th – November 1st, 2019 by appointment only
OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11th | 7 PM – 10PM
The installation of Brayden’s works pay tribute to Audrey Hepburn, Basquiat, Chanel, Frida Kahlo, Karl Lagerfeld, Liechtenstein, Napoleon and Robin Williams.
No bright light without sunglasses:
Brayden will unveil new limited edition Eyewear at the Opening Reception
—When the viewer sees Brayden’s work, they are first taken in by the bright colors and the fun story lines that he creates with the greater image. And it is only when you look closer at the fragmentations and reassembly of fine details of thousands of images Brayden uses to create his paintings that you will be able to finally understand the essence of the story within the larger context of the painting.
“ACCA Gallery’s Director Carlos Benitez sees Brayden Bugazzi works like an encyclopedia of modern and contemporary great masters known for colour, drastmanship, and print making . His works are carefully plan like a Classical Realistic Painter and like Vincent van Gogh’s Quinces, lemons, pears and grapes, he painted the frame yellow and ochre, with brush strokes that bear some resemblance to Japanese characters. Brayden knows the importance between the painting and it’s sorroundings so he chooses the wood, moulding style and paints his frames to bear resemblance of the art itself.”

This is art. Explicit contemporary art is no stranger to public treatment and many iconic artists once shunned such as Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons (i.e., “Made in Heaven” series) are now revered as “Bold.” says ACCA Gallery’s Director, Carlos Benitez.
Beverly Hills: Known around the world as one of the best renowned prestigious location with art galleries like the Gagosian and landmarks like Rodeo Drive!
No stranger to the exclusive, Beverly Hills will serve as the debut location of Treasure the Erotic, a unique and lavish exhibition by Australian jewelry artist Colin Burn. Described as a laud to pleasure, valuing the intimate and honoring the erotic, the exhibition has more than forty limited edition artworks on display. The exhibition highlights include a luxury sculpture work titled “The Pearl Royale” – a platinum and diamond set vibrator valued at a cool $1.8 million dollars – and a unique chessboard set made of crystal sculptures valued at an opulent $4 million dollars and will be featured alongside the erotic photography of renowned Australian photographer Aaron McPolin.
The exhibition will also serve as the launch of the recently relocated ACCA Gallery. Originally conceived in Hollywood, ACCA Gallery comes to Beverly Hills bringing its vision of contemporary fine art and mission of providing creative experiences and educational initiatives of classes and workshop practices covering the many facets of the art world for personal and financial advancement to residents and visitors of Beverly Hills.
ACCA Gallery anchors on the second floor of the Global Business Centers building at 468 N. Camden Drive to create a market and exhibition space in Beverly Hills. While not necessarily a new placement for an exhibition space (think New York City’s Chelsea gallery neighborhood to Miami South Beach’s Art Week hotel fairs to Los Angeles’ eclectic exhibition spaces from movie studio lots and airplane hangars), ACCA Gallery will utilize the Global Business Center’s open common area spaces for its revolving contemporary program for all to enjoy, one floor at a time. And by understanding ACCA Gallery’s positioning in the central region of Beverly Hills, known around the world as one of the best renowned prestigious art galleries like the Gagosian, landmarks like Rodeo Drive plans for expanding its exhibition space footprint with regular public pop-up experiences to make contemporary art more accessible to the residents and visitors of Beverly Hills
Treasure the Erotic by Colin Burn and Aaron McPolin is a lavish month long exhibition running August 3rd – 31st, 2019, with a V.I.P. premier night on Saturday, August 3rd, from 7pm – 10pm.

"Ganz's global icons reveal the everlasting inspiration and impact of femininity," comments Carlos Benitez, Gallerist, AC Gallery
Rachel Ganz has been painting, drawing, and creating artwork since the age of four. Ganz was inspired by her love of Pop Culture and Ancient Egypt including her most recent exposure to the magnificent King Tut exhibit at the California Science Center this past year. Expressionistic paintings characteristic of Rachel Ganz’s oeuvre, including the artist's bold use of bright colors, striking design, thick paint, and high glosses bring the characters to life with their soulful eyes and charming faces will illuminate the White Cube exhibition space inside AC Gallery. Ganz will debut her latest paintings including 'Betty Boop' - a starlet of Pop Culture and more than 1930's Jazz Age flapper with her big-lashed flirty eyes and petite body responsible for showcasing a very savvy, sophisticated, and confident woman in animated form as well as the monumental 60x36 inch mixed media 'Nefertiti Holding Hand of Goddess Isis' - a painting that glorifies the Ancient Egyptian deities Queen Nefertiti and Goddess Isis, recognizing the religious revolution they helped construct in Ancient Egypt.
Global icons that have characterized feminine beauty and power - Nefertiti, Betty Boop, and others - will come together and draw the viewers' gaze into their eyes, allowing the feel, magic, and mystery of the past Ancient Egyptian to more current Pop Culture eras to emerge.

Richard Popitti alias Rxx comes from a long line of creativity. His father was an accomplished painter. He founded one of the world’s largest design firms and owned one of the prominent advertising agencies in post-war Britain. His aunt was also a painter and his grandparents and ancestors were architects and artists. Art is in his blood and in his soul.
Richard began his career, like his father, in the world of advertising.having attended the elite schools in the UK. However he left advertising for the world of finance in the mid 70s. Now after years of looking at only red and black, he is exploding with a whole spectrum of happy colours mixed with words and numbers. He has come a full circle. His process is simple; he sees a word, he hears a word and from there his imagination begins. He expresses how he sees and hears that word by letting his ideas follow and flow. It is the same with objects; he looks at an object, imagines a colour and just paints with happiness.
Behind each painting is a depth of multiple meanings that can either be words painted thickly on top of images or just words on top of other hidden words that hide sentences or phrases. His secret is that he enjoys having fun by painting with bright colours. Then by applying the paint thickly on to a canvas with multiple layers his happy dreamland slowly turns into a reality. Painting is his adventure and when he begins a canvas he never knows what will happen and when or how the finished dream will end.

Press release: BRIGHT by Linzi Lynn
AC Gallery presents an inaugural solo exhibition by artist Linzi Lynn. Flows of color playfully intertwine and meld, taking stage onto the surface of the canvas for lively theatrics to unfold.
“Lynn’s art reflects the traditions of the Golden Age paintings with makeover fantasies” comments Carlos Benitez, Gallerist of AC Gallery.
A native of London, Linzi Lynn came to the United States in 1992 after living in the South of France for many years. Lynn knew from an early age she was going to be an artist; however, she thought it was going to be as a performing artist. Her parents had sent her to theatrical school when she demonstrated as a young child, a talent for finding drama in the everyday. In 1973, Lynn began channeling her artistic creativity into the visual arts, especially painting. Her theatrical background helped her to be sensitive to the emotions of her subjects, which she was then able to transfer effortlessly onto canvas as both visual art and theater are forms of creative expression, inspiration, and entertainment. Expressionistic paintings characteristic of Linzi Lynn’s oeuvre, finished in exquisite polished brass frames will illuminate the White Cube exhibition space inside AC Gallery. Lynn will also debut her first foray into new media, vibrant sculptural works and a collaborative fashion showcase that give presence to her expressive subjects.
There will be a reception from 7–10pm on Saturday January 26th at AC Gallery located at 1546 Highland Ave., LA 90028 Admission is complementary with RSVP to: art@acgallery.us

AC Gallery presents Switch, an inaugural solo exhibition by american photographer Mark Dektor. Intimate portraits grant the viewer a shift in perception, offering an uninhibited look into the private BDSM life.
“Dektor’s photographs capture the vision of Robert Mapplethorpe’s ground work” Carlos Benitez, Gallerist
Director and cinematographer Mark Dektor began his career in the advertising industry, but changed directions to fine art photography when fueled with a desire to fulfill an unrequited dimension in his creativity. A subculture of mystique opens up to Dektor’s lens, breaking down misconceptions and allowing others to witness the intrigue of BDSM purely. Power dynamics become visible with a vulnerability not often experienced. True personalities are exposed yet maintain the same level of credence. In essence, Dektor’s work becomes a showcase of pent up emotions to finally emancipate freely, becoming a visual delight for all to behold.

A red carpet life celebration and tribute of fine art paintings honoring movie star Tab Hunter, the works in the exhibition offer a glimpse into the ground-breaking career and extraordinary life of a Hollywood idol turned American icon.
The famed video director and artist Vance Lorenzini has focused on nearly 20 images of Hunter to create a series of life-size paintings to be unveiled for the first time. Tab Hunter’s memorial service was held in July 2018 during a private ceremony near his home in Montecito and the exhibition, to be hosted by Hunter’s life partner of three decades Allan Glaser, will mark the first public event to memorialize him.

AC Gallery presents THE 25TH FRAME, the inaugural solo exhibition by artist Patrick Curtet. Action-packed, emotive photographs lend themselves to open-ended narratives for the viewer to dissect.
Cinematographic and fine art photographer Patrick Curtet is taking us on a road trip back in time to the Golden Age of 70’s Hollywood. Considered the New Wave of America cinema and reflecting the influence of Classic Hollywood, films such as Bonnie & Clyde, Wild at Heart, and Bullit are re-imagined and brought back to life in Curtet’s clever contemporary tableaus.
Patrick Curtet is a French fine art photographer based in Los Angeles. He revisits his favorite iconic American cult films in his new exhibition THE 25TH FRAME. Having fallen in love with photography since his early childhood and inspired by Hollywood cinema and the iconic California lifestyle, Curtet wishes to share his artistic vision of the west coast glory years; a suspended dimension w here all heroes come alive.
Patrick Curtet is one identity, one eye, one personality, one vision, one spirit and one soul.
By capturing the moments and emotions of the influential films of the era, his photographic re-enactments guide us by his inspiration straight into the scene. More than just a photographer, Curtet believes that everything is a story and every person or place has something to tell... we just have to see that extra frame. THE 25TH FRAME emphasizes his artistic vision with surprising compositions, dramatic back-lighting and captivating imagery. Patrick Curtet’s artistic practice is a stunning experience in photographic verisimilitude, creating a new link to the Hollywood of then to now.
THE 25TH FRAME is “THE MOMENT BEFORE THE DUST SETTLES” (TEASER)

ACE OF LA
BEAUTY IS PAIN
SOLO EXHIBITION
July 7th - July 29th, 2018
VIP PREVIEW
WHERE: Hollywood | 1546 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028
WHEN: Saturday, July 7, 2018 | 8pm - Midnight
Fresh, bright colors explode onto contemporary, clean compositions of bodies with objects of desire transforming into exquisite palettes for the mind to get lost in and wander. And in a city of dreamers, ACE of LA is selling the dream.
Born 1987 in Mexico City, ACE of LA had a nomadic upbringing, moving back and forth between Mexico and the United States many times during his early childhood. Although a transitory period of countless moves, it was through this experience that allowed him to mold his mind into transporting him to self realized places of peace, bliss, and contemplation.
In the physicality though, ACE of LA kept being drawn to the history and cultural intricacies of Mexico and how they compared to the United States, giving rise to nuances in which he could formulate a framework of relations. These connections would in turn be the catalyst behind his boundless ideas, drawing inspiration from eclectic artists such as David LaChapelle, Shepard Fairey, and even Diego Rivera, yet not as inherently political.
And even if political undertones do arise in ACE of LA’s art from time to time, success in the works lies on the subtlety of the message. The aesthetic feel and emotion ravaging from within the images onto the surface is of utmost importance as it is through these experiential moments that will truly motivate and make a lasting impact.

WHEN: Saturday, June 2, 2018 | 8pm - Midnight
AC Gallery presents George Hobbs x Sticks and Figures. Hobbs is a lover AND a fighter… His LOVE of art, photography, and film brought Hobbs to Los Angeles over thirty years ago. He moved to Venice Beach and pursued a career in filmmaking, where he honed his craft of telling stories with pictures. In 2016 Hobbs decided to FIGHT. Dismayed by the division surrounding him, he started his Stick Figure Wisdom series to express complex concepts with simple symbols, thus transcending language. Hobbs’ modern-primitive style combines the appeal of cartoons with wit and humor. He explores themes of love, religion, politics, relationships, and what it means to be human, all while loving the creative process and fighting against those who would try to destroy it. George Hobbs' photographs and sculptures show the same clever perspective of our tenuous connection to that which sustains us.

PLINIO MAINES JUNIOR
CONSTRUCTIVE COLORS
March 24th - April 14th, 2018
VIP PREVIEW
WHERE: Hollywood - 1546 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028
WHEN: Saturday, March 24, 2018, 8pm - Midnight
AC Gallery MIAMI presents Plinio Maines Junior x Constructive Colors. At the intersection of true logic and interpretational beauty, one will find contemporary artist Plinio Maines Junior.
Born in Lages, Santa Catarina, Brazil in 1963, Plinio Maines Junior always had an interest in the materiality of objects and a knack for creating with his hands, but was never fully aware of the role art could play in his life. It was not until a week before entering la Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina located on “La Isla de la Magia” Florianopolis in 1982 that Junior would have a revelation. Starting off with a block of wood and simple chisel set, Junior created his first sculptural work. It was at this point that Junior found an activity that seemed to fully spark his underlying interests. With the beginning of school year in a matter of days though, a field of study decision was destined to occur.
Weighing his options between his newfound passion and an in-demand career option, Junior hesitantly chose the latter and entered the mechanical production engineer program at UFSC. His career would turn out to be very lucrative and filled with successes yet his desire was never fully present, only making appearances as a hobby.
An engineering career did benefit Junior in one major way; as a lead manager for an engineering enterprise, he was given the perk of air travel. It was during these trips from Brazil to Belgium, Canada to China and the world over that Junior would contemplate whilst glancing down onto the surface of the world and witness the lines and forms that shaped our home planet. Blocks of fields would congregate, rows of buildings would sprout and the geometry of life would come alive. With canvas scraps and acrylic pens, Junior went to work on bringing these macro geometries to the human scale and fuel the creative passion that continued to exist within.
Color blocking and definite lines convene and construct the cityscapes, faces, flora and fauna in the works of Plinio Maines Junior as he believes the building blocks of life occur in such a way; abstraction is reconfigured figuratively through our mind. Yet he understands that all interpretations are valid and it is only through our individual interpretations of reality that things will blend to a cohesive state we will all collectively understand.

Linda Stelling is a Los Angeles artist who fills her paintings with the poetry of color. The images she conjures up are point and counterpoint to the verse that she writes. Stelling is a visceral artist who also contemplates her inner life on canvas.
Phosphorescent, phantasmagorical color pours out of her mind’s eye and saturates each of Stelling’s artworks. Her highly chromatic abstracts leave the viewer enthralled and invigorated by their clashes of originality and a kind of sweet synesthesia that her wild palette provokes.
Stelling can’t resist giving way to creative flights of fanciful abstraction. Rapturous and playful, the best of her paintings, like Santa Fe, are deeply and beautifully rendered. Her expressive smudges, along with the heavy orbs of pigment she uses, emphasize her striking, wildly colored brushwork. Luminous and numinous, her paintings reveal, on close inspection, a complex, somewhat mysterious layering technique that pulls your soul deeply inside the colors in her canvases. The painter’s use of brilliant pigments—sometimes sparingly, other times forcefully—creates powerful explosions of movement, hue, and intensity.
Stelling abstracts figurative images infused with her own bright, incendiary palette. Her curvy, undulating depictions of feathers, flowers, land and seascapes organically tumble together as she reconfigures their shapes. Stelling feels that, “my paintings are meant to instill a psychic vibration. The blending of colors and abstract forms are meant to parallel the dynamics of internal desire, redirecting the viewer from expression to actuality.”
The relationship between the subject and the background speaks to an ongoing dynamic not only within the subject itself, but in the artist’s perception of it. As the figurative subject disappears in a maelstrom of color, it is the abstraction, and its emotional appeal to the viewer, that lingers. Stelling has been working on a vast suite, an ode, if you will, that aspires to a new genre of figurative abstracts, filled with raucous riots of color.
The result is a congenial exhibition, a mix of twenty-odd paintings brimming with a cacophony of moody, delicious, colorful madness and a myriad of painterly delights.

SMOKE + MIRRORS
March 4th - 25th, 2017

Stefan Pinto uses intimate portraits of differently bodied LGBT and LGBT-friendly people to produce a brilliant new vision of community. His photography is filled with smoke and mirrors, flashing-hot strobe lights, and fashion focused poses that twist into sublime humanist statements of the sweetest intimacy. Bodies of all shapes and sizes are his canvas. In Smoke and Mirrors, Pinto produces a compelling photographic survey, chronicling a post modern age of multiracial, multicultural and gender-fluid people who inhabit Pinto’s portraiture. His luminous images are filled with tender interactions. His solo portraits intimately connect us with their subjects. This is the artist-photographer’s first solo exhibition and it is a thrilling and auspicious debut. The people who live in Stefan Pinto’s photographs are in deep conversation and they all have something to say. Like Diane Arbus, Pinto evokes the human condition with a deep love and respect for his subjects. Each person in Pinto’s world is making a statement about affection, desire, and vulnerability. Within his mirrored photo booth and mini sets, Pinto makes his subjects visually compelling. With strobe lights and mirrored reflections he gives us a double look at his subjects that is highly revelatory. He ferrets out their individuality and directs them to reveal who they truly are. Sometimes he anoints them with smoke, other times you might catch Pinto’s own reflection in their portraits.
The artist-photographer’s background as a fashion model and fitness instructor, who conquered his own obesity, combine to lend him both insight and to impart glamour to those he shoots. He directs them into simple, naturalist poses and helps them communicate their humanity. Artists see with indelible eyes and they are capable of great vision. That’s what Stefan Pinto achieves. His mirrors reflect what Pinto wants us to see. These amazing portraits explore the complexities of human need and the yearnings of us all to be connected. Pinto’s initial foray into this body of work can be seen in a small portfolio published by Out Magazine

LA ART SHOW 2017 JAN. 11-15, 2017
MODERN | CONTEMPORARY
The LA Art Show embraces its role as the regions preeminent art fair and emerges as the annual civic celebration of the visual arts. The record breaking enthusiasm surrounding our 2016 edition surpassed all expectations and encourages our team to deepen our roster of galleries and pursue new exciting art programming. The evolving role of the art fair as a fulcrum for art commerce, connecting galleries, artists, curators, and collectors drives our marketing and planning. The art fair world is expanding and we are proud to be one of the world’s largest and longest running events with 150,000 square feet of exhibition space and close to 70,000 attendees this past year. As Los Angeles takes its place as a vanguard of the global art scene, our ability to adapt and evolve to meet the art market’s current trends is vital.
Produced by Kim Martindale since its inception, The LA Art Show entered its third decade with an expanded curatorial team, harnessing their knowledge and experience to drive the International focus and content development of the fair. We partnered with galleries and non-profits to feature bold new art performances and continued to expand out Littletopia and Street Art sections both at the fair and at off-site events to facilitate dealer and collector networking and create a sense of immediacy. While dedicated to maintaining our commitment to technique and integrity, we are further refining our curatorial vision and presenting innovative galleries, lectures, and artist performances that showcase premier Modern and Contemporary work.

BRAYDEN
Brayden is a Los Angeles-based street artist with work that is in essence smaller stories within a larger context of a greater story line. As a university student, Brayden was highly inspired by magazines, forming an almost obsession-like relationship with them. An obsession that eventually led him to becoming an editorial photographer working with large-scale magazines across the country. Over time the obsession did not disappear and he found himself creating photographs and works out of his recycled magazine collection, creating collages and mixing a various array of visual elements throughout the collages. As a photographer, Brayden started to build a fascination with the idea of the disposability of printed media and with it, a deeply upsetting internal emotion of how the digital revolution has cheapened the cost of photography work. These internal emotions led Brayden to build with his hands and have a more physical connection to his work, breathing new life into these so-called discarded magazines. Pieces of bright colors, turned into new story lines; a greater image with precise details giving way to a deeper message of longing and subtle sadness masked by the beauty inherent within the work.
BORIS BEZROUKOV
Boris Bezroukov is a truth seeker on a quest for spiritual survival. He does not create based on need, but desire. His feverous demeanor and veracity is contagious. Bezroukov is forthright and honest in his artistic approach creating a consistent dialogue between the artist, the piece and the audience. He is clear in his message, yet consistently allows individual interpretation and perception. One of his series, Timeless, features photographs advantageously layered on top of one another conceal seductive women positioned paradoxically next to Jesus Christ. Congruent, tonic images, refuting in nature, stimulate our imagination and catalyze personal inquisition. Sultry women in provocative, assuming positions coat religious images of Jesus nailed to the cross. Despite the absence of religious figures in a selection of his pieces, leaving the seducers to fend for themselves, Bezroukov has succeeded to maintain a sacred, churchly feel avoiding sacrilegious overtones.
MILENA MORTATI
Milena Mortati is an Italian artist, painter, sculptor and photographer. She has had the opportunity to exhibit worldwide and is excited to be showcasing her newest mixed media series at XContemporary during Art Basel 2016 VIVA VOCE was inspired by unaltered beauty, by embracing flaws, owning them and viewing them as unique perfections. The Calavera sculpture symbolizes the infinite potential we possess. The naked body represents the casing, which holds that immense power. The ultimate form of freedom is self confidence, to turn misfortune into fortune, poison into medicine and to view every setback as a springboard to an immeasurable benefit. Some may want to hide, I say live out loud by embracing it all. VIVA VOCE!
MICHAEL MASON
Michael Mason is born-again in America. A self–taught artist who paints, draws, uses printing making and collage to express stories from his previous life experience. His non-representational style is deliberate as he tries to dissect mythological stories, fairy tales, movies…etc, and combines these ideas in a modern day context. Thus forming a sometimes provocative picture which pokes fun at these long standing institutions and beliefs. Born in Mesopotamia, a land steeped with a rich historical background, all of which would later be suppressed by a visually limited regime. Americana imagery from comic books and movies provided relief and began to shape Mason’s young mind. Sketching, watercolor and pastels helped him escape into his art world. Mason spent six years in the army and describes this as ‘the worst time of his life’ and yet this too would provide influence in his work. Ultimately it has made him seek Freedom. The goal of which is to have freedom of thought. Moving to the US has helped Mason realize his need to create art again. Taking art classes has renewed his respect for the “old masters” and their influence is seen as he begins many artworks with the beacon of the human form and builds visual stories filled with deliberate symbols around them. He has shown his work at three exhibitions at the GCC Gallery and has won two People’s Choice Awards. Mason is constantly working at his craft and is slowly rising like the tower of Babylon to manifest himself and his art into the beautiful Garden of Eden.
BILL WISHNER
Bill Wishner started his career in photography more than 20 years ago as a photographer focusing on jazz music; his jazz photography has been included in multiple international exhibits and he was the co-editor (along with Bill Minor) of the 40th Anniversary book for the Monterey Jazz Festival. In 2007, Wishner founded f8 Pasadena Salon, exploring the aesthetics and art of photography. In 2012, Wishner founded and is currently Co-Project Director of “Pasadena Photography Arts” dedicated to promoting photography and helping emerging photographers in the East Los Angeles area. More recently Wishner has turned his creative lens on the urban environment in cities around the world. The project, started in 2012, is titled “Art of the City Wall” and focuses on the visual art and aesthetics of urban walls.

VISIONS III BY BAGHIR. August 20th - September 06, 2016
Nicolas Baghir Maslowski was born in France. Baghir, the photographer’s artist name, was the first name of his grandfather, who died in his native Russia during the Bolshevik revolution in 1917. His father, in exile, emigrated to France as a child and eventually became a writer, giving a small camera to his own son Nicholas Baghir when he was 8 years old. As an introverted child captivated by images, Baghir took his camera everywhere, photographing everything that came into sight to create a personal photographic universe.
His secondary passion was music. In the early 2000s he spent time in Jamaica, meeting several musicians who were more or less forgotten and created the label imprint Makasound/Inna de Yard with a friend. They produced and reedited a number of buried masterpieces, eventually popularizing the Jamaican artist Winston McAnuff in France. Many of visuals for the label’s albums were photographed and composed by Baghir. The label took off and eventually became a division of a major company, but in 2013 Baghir took a chance and made the decision to leave his successful career in the music business, return to photography, and fully pursue his artistic vision.
