Hongbo mixes cinnabar ink with his techniques of splashing, accumulating and layering colors. In the past few months, he completed this outstanding masterpiece, "Grand Canyon Sunset" and has dedicated it to the audience. This piece not only makes the viewer feel the beauty and majesty of the multi-hued red Grand Canyon, but also symbolizes the pain caused by the pandemic - and the ancient practice of using cinnabar to ward off evil spirits. Hongbo has spent more than ten years painting American landscapes with Chinese ink and wash techniques. Expressing his own feelings and emotions is the fundamental point of reference for Hongbo’s exploration and forward progress. The creation of "Grand Canyon Sunset" marks the latest significant progression in the art of Hongbo. ~ ACCA Gallery International Director, Maya Ito.
In the National Scenic Collection, each painting possesses nationally significant history of National Parks. Hongbo generally conducts studies like the sensitivity flow of waters, mountains conditions and the full length of trails to provide views from the“wild,” “scenic,” or “recreational” - landscapes. Documenting these values protect the present, but the present is bound to be changed by the effects of our eco system. Hongbo’s values are remarkable and rare, unique and exemplary to our world. ~ ACCA Gallery Director, Carlos Benitez
