NADINE MAKBOUL is a women’s ready-to-wear fashion brand that carries the essence of all women. The company was founded by designer, Nadine Makboul, with the vision to offer a mix of luxury and contemporary styles. Nadine strives to have beautifully designed garments that will become a long-time staple in a woman’s wardrobe. The brand’s DNA is embodying classic designs with a modern twist, captivating silhouettes, and interesting textiles. In 2018, Nadine graduated with an Apparel Design Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Portland, Oregon. One year before graduation, Nadine attended a one-month master class in Paris taught by Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week guest designer, Stephanie Coudert. The master class entailed using The Great Wave Off Kanagawa print, by Hokusai as a concept for a fusion of Haute Couture and activewear designs. Along with having an exclusive pleating collaboration with Maison Lemariè, the designs were displayed for an afternoon in one of the Louvre’s private quarters next to its museum.

About Nadine Makboul. Post-graduation, Nadine ventured into personal styling, test-editorial styling, campaign styling, and as well as running a fashion blog. With these she had also taken on multiple roles in her projects such as directing, developing concepts and storyboards for photoshoots, and writing. The creative flow for Nadine has no restrictions as she likes to explore all avenues of life. Some of the activities Nadine partakes in to keep herself balanced is to meditate, spend time in nature, and to maintain a connection with animals. Nadine believes that loving and connecting to all life is a vital component for any human being in order to keep the spark within that empowers the spirit to stay strong. Nadine Makboul’s designs have been featured in the 2018 FashioNXT Incubator showcase, and in the FashioNXT 2020 Virtual showcase. In the 2020 FashioNXT Virtual showcase, Nadine Makboul herself was featured as a model for her designs. The virtual showcase debuted on FashioNXT’s Instagram and website.

A WALK TO REMEMBER

Fall — Winter 2024

collection on www.nadinemakboul.com

This is a collection that shows the current phase of my life while honoring the past. It is showing life and death intertwined. With the death of old thoughts and patterns, there begins a new life; rebirth. Rebirth can create the brightest aura, hence the presence of a golden yellow in the collection colors. The choice of the color green symbolizes the contrast of life and death. In spirituality, the color green is a healing energy. In Ancient Egyptian culture, green came to be not just the color of life, but also of the dying and reviving of Osiris. In their artwork they would depict the skin of the deceased person as the color green. This was to associate the dead with Osiris. My collection is a testament that you must have a death before you can live a new life. And lastly, the black and white colors are to have that Yin and Yang balance, as life is.

The silhouette choices were based on a longer hemline in mind. With a rebirth, there are still a lot of unknown or unseen aspects of yourself. You are a flower still blooming. Sometimes one must simply admire and enjoy a longer hemline. In my younger days I was afraid to play with silhouettes. As I got older I felt more comfortable to experiment with it, and as well with texture in design. This collection reflects this revolution within me.

Overall, A Walk to Remember takes elements from spirituality, the Far East, Middle East, and Mediterranean culture, to create a cohesive collection for the NADINE MAKBOUL brand.

The A Walk to Remember collection will debut this October 4th 2024 at FashioNXT in Portland, Oregon.
