ACCA’s is pleased to announce the representation of Joey Cruz Margarejo. For Joey the whole world is a big canvas, but he has a secret. He’s been creating his worldly art with only two brushes, always the same two brushes! They’ve become Joeys ‘trusted companions’ as they have never let him down! Quite simply, Joey loves his old brushes.
“Everyday life is an inspiration, my environment, people that I encountered, the scenery, sunlight, stars, air, mountains, water, clouds, night and day is an art in itself. I have a heart of emotions, souls spirits, putting all that in my canvas, I only used two brushes and these brushes speak a thousand words, create a thousand emotions, touch a thousand souls and feel a thousand hearts.” Joey Cruz Margarejo
While growing up in the Philippines, Joey had little inclination to become an artist, in fact he knew little about the arts in general. In time however, he recognized that he had some raw talent, an artistic touch if you will. This surfaced around the age of 9 or 10 after his first glimpses of masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, the works of Michelangelo and other European artists creations. Although he knew neither the names of the creators of these pieces nor what they were named, one thing was for certain; deep in his heart and soul, he loved looking at them!
