JEAN-PHILIPPE BOUCICAUT (AMERICAN)

I was born in New York City and both of my grandfathers were photographers. My mother is a painter, my father is an Emmy award winning documentary filmmaker and there are  accomplished  artists on both sides of my family that have strong cultural artistic influence with roots in Haiti and in Corsica. Painter Jean-Michel Basquiat was my cousin on my father’s side. Musician Regine  Chassagne of the band Arcade Fire is my cousin on my mother’s side. Painting, drawing, and picture taking were my first impulses and they carried me to the design studio of Donna Karan Menswear at age 21.

I am a photographer / painter / illustrator with published photographs in The New York Times Magazine Travel edition, Dance Magazine, Point Magazine, Monopol Magazine Berlin, Yoga Journal and the International Herald Tribune. I was a contributing photographer for The Aesthete.com and The Fashionisto.com. I have taken photographs for the French Academie of Ballet, Beyonce Apparel, Soukenberi Home Goods, Storm Models London, D1 Models London, Elite Models NY, MC Squared Models NY, NTA Talent Los Angeles, Q Models NY, VanityFair.com, and Vogue Italia online.  I have worked on album covers for Haywoode, the Attic Ends and Ife Mora. My paintings and photographs are in the collections of Donna Karan, Keith Richards, Patti Hansen, film producers Jon Gordon and Wyck Godfrey, the Washington DC AIDS Quilt, TV food personality Catherine McCord, pharmaceutical entrepreneur Stewart Rahr, and the CEO of Guess Jeans e-Commerce Andrew Koven. I have worked with painter Marcus Suarez on ceiling murals and wall treatments for Le Petit L’Ermitage Hotel, West Hollywood, and a mural for LA’s BEST, an afterschool program for children by the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office.
