Participants and honourees at the 2026 CIF U30 Global Innovation Conference in Los Angeles, where emerging leaders connected technology, finance, creativity and community impact.

As industries and the global economy continue to evolve, young innovators need more than technical knowledge. They also need financial literacy, access to capital, experienced guidance and opportunities to turn ideas into viable enterprises.

This was the central focus of the California Investment Forum's 2026 CIF U30 Global Innovation Conference, held at The California Endowment in Los Angeles. The gathering brought together students, emerging entrepreneurs, investors, educators, technology leaders and creative professionals to examine how the next generation can participate meaningfully in a rapidly changing global economy.

A YOUTH-LED VISION

Leading the programme were Nolan Sieu, Leader of the CIF U30 Innovation Alliance, and Laksamana JR Hamrozalli, a technology entrepreneur and UC Berkeley graduate in Data Science and Economics. Together, they presented a youth-led vision for connecting ambition with mentorship, investment and practical pathways to growth.

California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA, and U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu contributed special video messages encouraging young people to embrace entrepreneurship, financial literacy, innovation and public service.

IDEAS NEED OPPORTUNITY.

ENTERPRISE NEEDS DISCIPLINE.

LEADERSHIP NEEDS PURPOSE.

INNOVATION WITH COMMERCIAL DISCIPLINE

Artificial intelligence was among the subjects explored at the conference, alongside entrepreneurship, financial literacy, workforce development and the creative economy. Speakers considered how emerging technologies can support business and education while remaining guided by sound judgement, responsible leadership and human purpose.

For emerging entrepreneurs, the answer extends beyond innovation itself. A promising idea must be supported by disciplined financial planning, a sustainable business model and a clear understanding of the market. In an increasingly competitive environment, the ability to manage capital and build organisational resilience is

becoming as important as technical creativity.

The programme also examined the relationship between technology and the arts, demonstrating how AI is opening new possibilities in music, filmmaking, digital media and storytelling. At the same time, participants were reminded that originality, character and cultural understanding remain distinctly human strengths.

The conference concluded with Certificates of Congressional Recognition presented to Nolan Sieu, Laksamana JR Hamrozalli, Phoebe Sieu and Cheryl K for achievements in technology, entrepreneurship, the arts and community service.

CIF U30 reflects a broader shift in how the next generation is preparing for leadership. Success will increasingly depend on the ability to work across disciplines, understand both innovation and finance, and apply new technologies with responsibility and purpose.
